When it comes to cars, some smells do linger.

Maybe you open your car door to be greeted with an olfactory reminder of pizzas that were picked up last night, a coffee that spilt everywhere when a corner was taken too sharply or a vague must that appeared after you left a window cracked only for it to rain unexpectedly.

A car fragrance might not eliminate the source of the stench, but it’ll take the edge off. And while the classic pine tree freshener has a certain classic retro aesthetic to it, there are chicer options on offer now too – here are 10 to consider.

At the other end of the budget, we have this very luxe fragrance clip on from Parisian perfumery Diptyque. The handsome metal grill is adjustable, allowing you to control the intensity of the fragrance, or extract maximum longevity, so the scent lasts longer than an actual rose would.

This is technically a room spray, but a car is sort of just a room on wheels, no? The advantage of a spray is that it can be pulled out as needed basis, and is potentially less overwhelming. This one has a rich scent that incorporates orange, bergamot, lilac, vanilla and sandalwood.

Swap one dank smell for another. Is intentionally making your car smell like dry herb a bad idea? Probably, but so is trying to eat an extra saucy breakfast burrito while also driving to work. Don't tell me how to live my life.
