Crane

Oct 05, 2023

Crane Group — which has exited several plastics businesses in recent years — has purchased the PVC sheet pile business of Shoreline Plastics LLC

The deal includes all related assets and intellectual property, officials said in an Aug. 5 news release. No purchase price was disclosed.

Columbus, Ohio-based Crane made the purchase through its Crane Materials International unit, which is based in Atlanta.

"When [Shoreline] contacted Crane about acquiring their sheet pile assets, it was clear this was a good business decision for our company," CMI President and CEO Duane Bryant said in the release.

He added that the acquisition will allow CMI to expand capacity at its plant in Ball Ground, Ga.

CMI's products include sheet piling, pedestrian bridges and marine docks made from PVC, fiber-reinforced polymers and aluminum. The PVC used in CMI's vinyl sheet piling has about 90 percent recycled content, officials said.

Jacksonville, Fla.-based Shoreline will continue to produce PVC pipe and other extruded PVC products. The sale will allow the firm to focus on other core products, officials said.

The move is a bit of a reversal for Crane, which in 2012 sold its TimberTech wood-plastic composites unit. That move followed the firm's sales of its PVC fence, custom extrusion and siding businesses between 2008 and 2011.
