30 best at-home spa products of 2024 - TODAY

Nov 03, 2024

If you’re like us, self-care remains at the top of your list of New Year's resolutions each year. But as we go about our regular nine-to-fives, we sometimes forget to indulge in some me-time during the hours before and after the office.

While it’s nice to dream about regular facials and massages, those appointments often take more time (and money) than we like to spend. However, according to NewBeauty Editor-at-Large Sarah Eggenberger who recently stopped by the show, there’s plenty that can be done to make self care both time- and budget-friendly — especially in the "five to nine" hours before your workday begins.

To encourage some of that me-time, TikTok users have boasted about products that promote this kind of routine during those personal hours. And while on the show, Eggenberger points out some of her favorites from those comments. Whether you're looking for luxurious bedroom upgrades or simple skin care solutions, you'll want to indulge in the following TikTok-approved self-care essentials.

The first thing you don’t want to hear in the morning is your alarm clock. The Loftie Alarm Clock, however, offers a solution to those blaring sounds. Instead, Loftie uses peaceful tones and increased light to wake you peacefully out of sleep, aiming to help you sleep and wake up better.

This isn’t an ordinary diffuser. Using the brand’s app, the Pura Smart Fragrance Diffuser fills any room with premium scents via smart controls. This feature allows you to adjust the fragrance intensity, set schedules and times, among other details. Plus, the scent should also stay consistent and last up to 120 hours.

This is a three-in-one product: It claims to work as a toner, serum and moisturizer in one bottle. Just spritz it on all over the face to redeem its moisturizing benefits.

Unlike other lip oils, this one doesn’t come in a tube. Instead, it comes in a lip pencil-like applicator to hydrate the lips with hyaluronic acid, peppermint essential oil and other refreshing ingredients. The product claims to plump, moisturize, nourish and tint the lips with color, depending on the shade you choose.

Eggenberger says “skin care is the fastest form of self care” because it doesn’t require too many steps to enjoy. For instance, you can apply this hydrating mask from Ultraceuticals as you watch television, read a book or whip up dinner and still reap its benefits.

“Raising your self-awareness through journaling is one method to maintain wellness,” suggests Eggenberger. “Writing your goals to visualize and reflect on your progress can help with inspiration and motivation.” To start, Poketo’s planner gives you room to note, sketch and mark down important dates or tasks in an organized planner. “We particularly love this one, which lets you write down goals to start your day with direction.”

“Bala bangles have become a cult classic because you can strap them on, go about your day (we’re talking while getting ready, walk to work, whatever your AM looks like!) and get added strength and tone,” says Eggenberger. You can wear them on your wrist or ankles, and should still feel comfortable continuing the rest of your daily routine. The weight comes in 1 lb, 2 lb and ½ lb.

Heating pads should be in your arsenal since they provide a plethora of benefits: They keep you warm, aid with relieving stiffness and tension, temporarily soothe muscle aches, among other treats. This one from PureRadiance targets areas of concern in the back and neck, and does so with soft faux-fur fabric.

Now that it is winter, you might not be thinking twice about applying ice to your face, but trust that it can do wonders for the skin. Using The Real Skin Savant ice roller, you can potentially contour, tighten and de-puff areas of the face and even relax the muscles, too. According to the brand, ice rollers can even help with reducing redness and inflammation, too.

To give us some more self-care ideas, wellness and beauty writer Candice Kumai previously stopped by TODAY to share a few must-have products for an at-home spa day, or for simply creating a more relaxing room.

The trick to better sleep might just be one sheet set away. This sateen set from Brooklinen comes with all the basics, including two pillowcases, a top and a fitted sheet.

Satin pillowcases have seen an uptick in popularity in recent years, thanks to the benefits they provide, such as softer and healthier hair. This easy, simple upgrade can help you look and feel luxurious at the same time.

When is the last time you replaced your bathroom towels? If the answer is more than two years, you might want to consider adding this set to your cart.

Made with Turkish Cotton, these towels are created to be thicker than the average towel, in order to absorb more. Soft to the touch, this set includes two hand towels and two bath towels and are available in a wide range of colors, including neutrals and fun pops of color.

With a solid cement exterior, this essential oil diffuser won't stick out like a sore thumb amongst your home decor. Simply remove the top to reveal a water basin, which you can then fill up and add scents to.

With four different levels of misting, whether you prefer it to be continuous or on-and-off, your home will soon become a place of relaxation thanks to the variety of scents to add.

With umbrella terms such as "relax," "sleep well" and "unwind" as the names of these three essential oils, rest assured knowing that notes of lavender, chamomile, bergamot and more are helping you to wind down for the night.

What's more relaxing than a facial? Spoiler: Not much. This multipurpose face mask is perfect for the skin care aficionado. It works to detoxify and exfoliate, leaving your skin glowing after use. While you might associate turmeric with an immune-boosting ingredient, it's paired with roseship seeds in this formula to help skin feel smoother and look brighter.

It's available in both travel and full-sized options, making it easy to take on-the-go.

Kumai describes this serum as gentle and effective, noting that it doesn't cause redness or irritation when using it during your morning and nighttime routine — no matter your skin type.

The brand notes that this serum is a force to be reckoned with, as it works to prevent future signs of aging while simultaneously treating current fine lines and wrinkles.

Made with a number of oils, such as avocado and sweet almond oil, as well as vitamin E, this formula hydrates the skin and leaves it feeling "vibrant," according to the brand. This oil can't help but live up to its name of "near perfection," improving the look and feel of irritated skin.

For a hydrating end to your day, simply place the snow mushroom cleansing bar into the glove, run it under the sink for a couple of seconds and begin scrubbing it against your face.

The glove is made with cornsilk, meaning it won't irritate or cause abrasions to the skin when scrubbing. Wetting the bar and rubbing it to your skin will create a foaming sensation that leaves you with cleaner pores and a more balanced pH.

Kumai uses this product to end her days with, complimenting its ability to keep her skin clear from "pollution" all day.

Want to take more than just wine with you into the shower? With this bathtub caddy tray that has over 17,000 verified five-star ratings, you can create the perfect setup every time. It has space for a book or tablet, phone, candle, drink and a snack. It even has extending sides for more space. It comes in seven colors so you can match it to your desired bathroom aesthetic.

Tired of less-than-spectacular water pressure? The right showerhead can make all the difference. According to the company's description, this three-speed option increases pressure by up to 200 percent and saves up to 30 percent more water than a traditional showerhead. The mineral beads in the handle act as a natural filtration system to provide you softer and more purified water.

Sometimes relaxing means sitting in the tub with a glass of wine by your side. Instead of having to reach over the side of the tub and putting your glass on the floor or balancing it on the ledge — where it could potentially fall, leaving you with more mess to clean up... definitely not relaxing — this wine holder is the perfect solution. It suctions right onto the tub so you can sip and replace freely.

Turn your bathtub into a soothing jacuzzi experience with this bubble massage mat. Seriously! It massages, creates bubbles and even has a built-in heater, perfect for the colder months. While the built-in heater won't heat up cold water, it can help maintain the warm temperature, according to the brand.

Face masks are usually the first thing people think of when it comes to at-home self care since they're quick, cost-effective and easy. Providing extra hydration to your skin is always appreciated, especially during the winter months when dehydrated skin is a common occurrence.

Follow up your face mask with these highly-rated under eye masks. They have hyaluronic acid, peptides, squalene and rose water to help delay signs of stress and aging.

Don't be fooled — this isn't the kind of tea you drink. This bath tea is designed to "elicit a sense of hope, abundance, beauty and joy," according to the brand's description, made up of calendula, rose and ginger. According to the data fueling Pinterest's 2021 trend predictions, "full moon bath ritual" saw a 90 percent increase year over year. You can find this bath tea in other moon phase combinations like new moon, waxing moon and waning moon.

Sooth your muscles with this salt soak comprised with Himalayan salt, dead sea salt and sunflower oil. Scent notes feature fresh citrus, heliotrope, dry amber, calming rose and vanilla.

If you don't want to go through all the trouble of buying separate items, opt for an easy spa gift set like this bestseller from Etsy seller ComfortSense. It has everything you need for several spa days including three bath bombs, two full-size soap bars, a body oil, a body scrub, bath salt, a face mask and more.

For those who want a full kit with items for the rest of the bathroom environment and not just skin care, this self-care box comes with a body oil, candle, face mask, bath salts, lip balm, matchbox, intention setting guide, personalized greeting card and a little sweet treat to enjoy.

Achieve out of this world relaxation with this intergalactic-themed bath bomb from Lush. It touts several benefits from different ingredients like peppermint oil to cool the skin and grapefruit oil to boost your mood. It's loved by shoppers with over 600 five-star reviews. "As it dissolved, I felt like a mystic unicorn dancing through the skies. Once completely dissolved, like a mermaid sunbathing," wrote one reviewer.

Everyone's heard of bath bombs, but what about shower bombs? Or, in this case, shower steamers. They're ideal If you're pressed for time and can't create a full bath setup. Just place them in the corner of the shower where water will splash to activate aromatherapy-fueled relaxation. The purple set comes with six shower bombs with scents like lavender, watermelon, eucalyptus and menthol, vanilla and sweet orange, grapefruit and peppermint.

While it can be fun to fill up your tub with fun-scented and colorful bath products, that's not the best approach if you have sensitive skin because they can leave your skin irritated, red or itchy. Instead, opt for something suitable for all skin types like this Aveeno shower and bath oil made with soothing oatmeal. (It's basically adult bubble bath. Who doesn't love that?)
